A Brisbane doctor accused of raping two women he met on a religious dating site has been denied bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court.
The 43-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, is also accused of repeatedly offending against his wife between 2017 and 2021, when they were married.
The pair are now separated and the woman alleges the frequency of the assaults against her escalated to multiple times a week.
In an application for bail on Friday, the court was told the woman believed he felt entitled to sex because they were married, and some of the offending occurred in front of their children.
It's alleged he threatened to kill her if she reported his behaviour to police, which would cause him to lose his doctor's licence.
The man, who has no criminal history, is suspended from practising.
He allegedly met the two other complaints on a dating site for Christians.
Both allegedly said they intended not to have sex before they were married, Justice Soraya Ryan told the hearing.
"At one stage it's alleged that the applicant told the second complainant that he would teach her ... about sexual intercourse because he was a medical doctor," Justice Ryan said.
The offending against the women is alleged to have occurred between February and April, 2021.
In denying his bail application, Justice Ryan said none of the conditions proposed by the man's lawyer could reduce the risk he posed to an acceptable level.
He posed an unacceptable risk to the safety of the complainants as well as other women in the community, she said.
Justice Ryan also noted the risk he would fail to appear in court given the prospect of incarceration in the event of conviction.
