Brentford vs Wolves Premier League clash halted due to drone flying above stadium

The Premier League encounter between Brentford and Wolves was halted due to a drone flying overhead above the Brentford Community Stadium in west London.

This mid-table clash between the two sides was key with the Bees looking to pull further away from the relegation places with a vital three points that would have provided the perfect response to the midweek loss against Manchester United midweek.

Meanwhile, Wolves were looking to add further momentum to their mid-term surge under Bruno Lage, which saw them placed 8th in the table heading into this clash.

After a rather even start between the two sides that saw six shots mustered up between the pair, a bizarre incident caused an unlikely disruption to proceedings and most importantly, to the safety of the players on the pitch.

As Brentford stated on Twitter: "Play has been halted due to a drone above the stadium

"The teams are heading back into the tunnel."

This incident took place just past the 30th minute mark to the shock of everyone present inside the stadium and it was joked about on social media that people from the SEGA building located nearby were just having some fun.

Nearly minutes plus had passed after the players left the pitch and unfortunately, the drone couldn't have been removed meaning that fans from both clubs were left waiting for further developments.

Thankfully, Brentford's social media was active in posting constant updates to keep supporters in the loop who couldn't have anticipated these dramatic events.

Questions will be raised as to how these situations could be dealt with more quickly if possible to avoid extra disruption.

On top of these drone concerns, the game had been overshadowed by a horror clash between Bees' teammates Rico Henry and Mathias Jensen with both players having to be withdrawn for Shandon Baptiste and Mads Roerslev respectively.

Brentford players re-emerged onto the pitch just as they would have been scheduled for a half-time break, with both sets of players and officials given a short warm up period once again before play was resumed, with 19 minutes added on to the first-half stoppage time.

The drama didn't end there though- a fault in the referee's battery communication system meant that more delays were inflicted upon the fans who suffered a second major delays upon the second half resuming this time round.

Unsurprisingly, chants of 'we want our money back' broke out around the Brentford Community Stadium with both sets of fans furious with the stop-start nature of this whole game.

Ruben Neves' late winner settled what was certainly an eventful day in the capital.
