The Borderlands live-action film shared its final trailer ahead of its official premiere scheduled on Aug. 9, 2024, showing its colorful cast of characters.

One of the stars of the upcoming movie, award-winning actress Cate Blanchett, previously talked about how she actually got on board the project.

She joins other popular Hollywood stars, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Florian Munteanu, and Ariana Greenblatt.

Borderlands Movie's Final Trailer

Blanchett said that the reason she accepted the role was mainly due to "lockdown madness," noting that it was something that she never thought would ever cross her path.

The director of the film is Eli Roth, who led the production of the film with an oddball group of misfits.

The group was haphazardly thrown together and they must go on a journey to rescue the daughter of the most powerful man in the universe. They will also have to find the lost vault that contains ancient alien technology, according to Entertainment.

When production on the Borderlands movie first started, the first wave of COVID-19 vaccines was only just becoming available. Everyone, including soon-to-be castmates, was eager to get back to the real world and stop disinfecting everything they owned.

Blanchett said that the project also gave them an opportunity to get physical and spend time in a room with other people and run around just being stupid. She continued to say that they only had each other, which made work an "absolute, joyous escape."

Roth also encouraged that type of energy during the production of the Borderlands movie and he even told Greenblatt to "go feral" for one take. This was one that was filmed in the lair that belonged to the actress' character, Tiny Tina.

A Quest to Save the Universe

The final trailer for the movie comes as Lionsgate is trying to make the last hard sell for the upcoming live-action adaptation. Those who are still debating whether or not they will watch the film could finally have the final push they need to make a decision, said GameInformer.

The latest video shows that Greenblatt's Tiny Tina could actually be the key to opening the hidden vault that the group is looking for. However, their quest is not made any easier by tentacled aliens who chase and attack them.

In the trailer, Blanchett's character, Lilith, asks Hart's Roland how they could possibly get through this obstacle. She then throws a stuffed bunny explosive down a tunnel before telling everyone to run, according to USMagazine.

This is exactly the kind of chaotic energy that the Borderlands franchise is known for and probably the reason why the video game series is as popular as it is among players.
