Bojan Miovski chasing Aberdeen silverware as he sets out 3 key Pittodrie aims in trophy pursuit

Bojan Miovski might be top of the scoring charts in Scotland but his main goal is to fire Aberdeen to silverware this season.

The North Macedonia international hit 11 goals in 15 games for the Dons and is tied with Rangers star Antonio Colak as joint top scorers in the Premiership. The summer signing from MTK Budapest would be delighted to finish the season as top gun but admitted his priority is getting Aberdeen back into Europe and lifting trophies.

The Dons have gone into the winter break in third place and also have a League Cup semi-final against Rangers to look forward to in the new year. Miovski, speaking to Filip Mishov in an exclusive interview with Record Sport , admitted: “Yes, it would be nice to win it when I’m already on the top. But I’d much rather lift a trophy with Aberdeen than win the Golden Boot. Our goal is to secure a place in the European competitions for next season, be in the top three and secure a place in the final of the League Cup.”

Miovski’s performances have already seen him linked with a January move to French side Reims – but the Macedonian last month revealed that he remains committed and has no plans for a quick exit.

He wants to restore the Dons to past glories and to really give the Red Army something to shout about. The frontman has swapped relegation with struggling MTK, along with midfielder Ylber Ramadani, for challenging at the top end with Aberdeen.

Boss Jim Goodwin had a massive summer overhaul at Pittodrie which saw Miovski come in as his star signing. The Dons struggled badly last season but now the expectation is there to get the team back into Europe.

That will be ramped up after the World Cup break when Aberdeen host leaders Celtic and then Rangers before the head to St Mirren on Christmas Eve.

Miovski is enjoying that additional pressure and expectation, happy that it’s different from what he has been used to at Bregalnica, Rabotnichki, Macedonia and Renova before he went to MTK.

The 23-year-old said: “I’m playing for a big club with great history and to be honest, we [Ramadani and myself] came from a different background, we jumped from a club fighting to secure safety into a club aiming to win every match.

“But, Aberdeen’s rich history and the mentality of the coach are match made in heaven in terms of getting the winning mentality among us, the players.

“It feels really good to have the pressure to secure three points every time we play.”

There is no doubt it helped that there was already a familiar face at Aberdeen with Albanian midfielder Ramadani, who had made the same move from Hungary a few weeks earlier.

Miovski said: “We help each other a lot as we played together at MTK Budapest too and it was much easier for me to come here when I knew that I will have a close friend next to me in the dressing room.

“I didn’t expect that we would fit in so quickly, but we already have the nickname ‘The Chaps’ among the players and it is brilliant.”
