Blyth racist fined after shouting abuse about passengers at Metro station

A racist has been fined after he shouted abuse about passengers at a Tyneside Metro station.

Mark Kindley was in the dock to face a racially-aggravated public order allegation - just seven days after being fined by a court and ordered to pay compensation for necking wine and lager inside the shop he'd just stolen them from. The 36-year-old found himself back before magistrates this week after he made racist comments about passengers to staff at Northumberland Park Metro Station, in Shiremoor.

A court heard that Kindley, who had been stopped by Nexus employees for not having a ticket, said "Those Indians are not capable enough to fight with me" and "Those p***s are not intelligent enough" in reference to a group of people he'd been arguing with on a Metro train. The shocked staff reported his offensive language to police and he was arrested.

Kindley, of Coomassie Road, in Blyth, has now been hit in the pocket for the second time in a week after he pleaded guilty to a racially-aggravated public order offence and was fined £200. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.

Paul Anderson, prosecuting at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court, said Kindley was on the Metro on December 5 last year when he got into a dispute with a group of people. Mr Anderson continued: "The defendant gets off at Northumberland Park.

"He doesn't have a ticket and, when staff stop him, he begins to use racially-aggravated language. He says 'Those Indians are not capable enough to fight with me' and 'Those p***s are not intelligent enough.'"

The court heard that Kindley, who has 36 offences on his record, had been struggling with alcohol addiction but was remorseful. Mark Styles, defending, added: "He's apologetic when questioned on the matter. He's got a history of alcohol abuse but he is currently working well with the Probation Service."
