Carol Kirkwood was left momentarily taken aback when her BBC Breakfast co-presenter, Naga Munchetty, playfully teased her during the live broadcast on Thursday, February 27, according to the Mirror. The teasing occurred after Carol delivered her usual weather update during the morning programme, which is co-hosted by Naga and Charlie Stayt.
After finishing her weather segment, Carol wrapped up and returned to the studio, but Naga couldn’t resist a cheeky comment. Just after Carol had advised viewers to stay tuned for further weather updates, Naga quipped, “Or we could listen to you in half an hour, that’ll make a change!”
Carol, clearly surprised by the jab, responded in mock disbelief, saying, “Naga, the things you say to me. I’m shocked!” Naga, not missing a beat, grinned and replied, “You love it. See you later,” which prompted laughter from both hosts before the show swiftly moved on, according to Lancs Live.
In the same broadcast, Charlie and Naga engaged in a series of discussions with notable guests, including Technology Secretary Peter Kyle, who talked about proposed copyright law reforms, and Sir Jon Cunliffe, who shared insights on issues facing the water industry in England and Wales.
Additionally, Paul Woodhouse from the British Dental Association spoke about the ongoing challenges surrounding access to dental care. The hosts also previewed Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s upcoming trip to the United States for a meeting with President Donald Trump.
This light-hearted exchange between Naga and Carol followed an earlier incident on BBC Breakfast, where Carol was forced to apologize for a slip-up she made during the Tuesday, February 18 episode. Presenting alongside Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell, who had filled in for Sally Nugent, Carol appeared to be a little off her usual game.
After presenting the weather forecast, she mistakenly said, “It’s Thursday that we’ll all be in that milder air, Jon and Sal,” before quickly realizing the error. Carol let out an audible gasp, prompting her co-presenters to chuckle, with Jon and Sarah teasing her. Sarah joked, “I didn’t hear what she said!” while Jon added with a wink, “Shh, don’t tell her, don’t tell her.”
Despite these light-hearted moments, Carol and her colleagues maintained their usual professional and friendly demeanour, keeping BBC Breakfast as one of the UK’s favourite morning shows.
