A BBC Breakfast presenter has recieved messages of support from fans after sharing he had suffered a knee injury. Sports journalist John Watson shared on his Instagram that he had been hospitalised after the incident alongside an image of himself in a hospital bed.
In the image John could be seen wearing a gown and had a huge bandage on his leg as he recovered from the injury. The presenter tore his meniscus, which caused damage to the cartilage between the bones in his knee.
It has been reported by The Daily Mirror that this sort of injury usually occurs when the knee twists whilst a person is playing sport and can result in swelling, stiffness and pain. John captioned the snap: "Less of a dash more of a hop to the studio come Monday."

Shortly after John was flooded with messages of support, including a funny message from John Kay. He wrote: "Take care, John. I’ve got a glittery sock for the other foot if you need it."
One fan said: "Eek good luck John, wishing you a speedy recovery. Also - you’ve got such dainty ankles."
Another commented: "What you have done mate? I was in yesterday having my meniscus tear operated on. Bandaged up the same as you. Get well soon."
A third added: "Oh my, get well soon John, I did that, slow recovery, but one step at a time n all sorted."
Whilst a fourth added: "Really reluctant to 'like' this as it implies I am pleased to see you in such a state! Get better soon @johnwatsonsport."
Fans may be surprised to learn this isn't John's first injury of the year, as earlier this month he suffered another painful injury after he smashed his face on a door whilst getting ready in the early hours of the morning to go live on air.
At the time John posted on social media: "The joys of getting dressed in the dark at 4am… (I really do need to watch out for those doors) not that you’d notice, great job from the brekkie make-up team," along with a picture of his puffy eyelids and cut on his eyebrow. BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC1.
