Shoppers in Newcastle's Eldon Square will be able to tuck into healthy bagels when a new fast-food chain opens later this month.
The Bagel Factory is opening up next to the shopping centre's Levi's store offering customers the chance to "build their own bagel" and see it made freshly in front of them.
With seats inside for up to 20 people, the new fast food business hopes to be a hit with students, families and workers when it opens in the city centre on Wednesday, June 29. The store will be the Bagel Factory's first in Newcastle, creating around eight jobs.
Owned by the Europe Cremonini Group, the Tyneside opening follows on from the brand's successful North East branches in Hull and York, with a total of 19 outlets across the UK.
Bagel Factory director, Antonio Ghirarduzzi, said he is excited to be launching in Newcastle this summer.
"We are really excited to be opening in Newcastle," he said.
"Newcastle is a big university city so we are hoping to attract young people and students, as well as families who are shopping, and office workers as a lot of people work around the center of Newcastle."
Customers can expect gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options on the extensive menu, with a vegetarian halloumi melt and salmon and cream cheese bagels among some of the chain's most popular bagels. Each day, the Bagel Factory will offer a breakfast menu as well as a range of combo meal deals where customers can choose a drink or snack alongside their bagel.
Marketing director, Gloria Cremonini, said the business prides itself on providing a quick service to customers.
"Bagels are freshly made on request in front of the customer," she said.
"Our offer includes a range of healthy, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We have just launched a vegan cream cheese bagel and vegan bacon as well.
"It is something different from other fast food outlets as we are offering something premium and healthy as well. Bagels are the only type of bread that is boiled and baked, that is low in fat, low in calories and low in cholesterol, and high in protein."
The Bagel Factory will also be offering a catering service online and in-store where companies can order bagels to be delivered to offices for meetings and events.
