A man has been charged with attempted murder over an incident at Ashworth Hospital.
David O'Brien appeared before Liverpool Magistrates' Court this morning, Thursday, to face counts of attempting to murder Daniel Fitzsimons and wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm against the same man. The alleged attacked occurred at the high-security psychiatric hospital in Maghull on November 11 last year.
The 44-year-old defendant, of no fixed address, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during a brief hearing. He was not asked to enter a plea to either charge as he appeared via video link to HMP Manchester wearing a black Nike zip-up top.
O'Brien will now appear before Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, October 13. He has been remanded into custody until that date.
