John Lewis, Asda, and Halfords products have been recalled due to health and safety concerns. Some have been taken off the shelves due to small parts representing a choking risk while others are at risk of overheating, according to Trading Standards.
When a product is recalled for any reason the organisation shares details on what shoppers should do if they have bought the item as well as information on why the product is being removed. John Lewis - safari highchair
This item is being recalled due to a potential choking risk posed to small children. If you have bought this item in the past year you are advised to stop using it.
A spokesman for John Lewis said: “The safety of our customers is very important to us so as a precaution we’re recalling this product from sale immediately. The tray arm caps can break off creating a potential choking risk for small children.
"If you have bought this item between May 2, 2021, and April 25, 2022, stop using it and return it to your nearest John Lewis shop for a full refund or to exchange it for an alternative product if you prefer. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. For more information please contact 01698 545 009 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.”
Halfords - mains and 12V leisure inflator
This item is being recalled due to the potential for overheating, which could be dangerous for anyone using the product. A spokesman for Halfords said: “We have identified a potential safety concern with the above product. We have identified a risk of the mains plug not failing safe and potentially overheating. This issue could be potentially dangerous and could pose a safety risk.
“To ensure customer safety we are recalling any of these products purchased from January 2022 onwards from our customers. Any units of the product purchased prior to January 2022 are not affected by this issue. Any unit purchased before January 2022 will have been packaged in a purple and white box, not in the orange box as shown above. These units are not affected by this issue or recall.
“If you have purchased one of these products please stop using it immediately. We then kindly ask if you have the product with you please return it immediately. If you do not have the product with you please kindly return it including all components as shown in the images above to store at your earliest possible convenience. When the inflator is returned to store you will be given a full refund.

If you know someone else who has purchased one of these products, or you have purchased one for someone else, please ask them to follow the actions advised above. Asda - TV LED strip, mood light, and multi-colour light bar
These items, made by Tzumi, are being recalled due to a poor-fitting battery section in the TV remote. The items affected are:
- Product Name: TV LED Strip 6.5ft - Barcode: 0841351151580
- Product Name: LED Mood Light 10ft -Barcode: 0841351160544
- Product Name: Multi Color Light Bar -Barcode: 0841351167888
A spokesman for Asda said: "Tzumi has taken the precautionary measure of recalling selected products which could be affected with a poor-fitting battery compartment in the remote control. In some cases the battery compartment of the remote does not lock allowing easy access to the compartment and battery.
"If you have purchased, any of the products mentioned above please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information please contact Asda customer relations – 0800 952 0101."
John Lewis - LED bar caddy four-bottle spirit dispenser
This item is being recalled by John Lewis due to a “risk of chemical contamination from the battery”. The product was sold between January 1, 2019, and April 7, 2022.
According to John Lewis anyone who purchased the item between those dates is advised not to use it but to package it up and return it to their local John Lewis store for a full refund or exchange it for an alternative product. Anyone with questions is asked to call 01698 545 009 between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday. A spokesman for the company said: “We’re very sorry that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
