Two of the longest serving staff members of Asda in Enniskillen have spoken about working in the local supermarket for more than a decade.
Gail Burns and Mark Wilson are two of the most popular employees with local shoppers, and together have a combined 26 years working in the Co Fermanagh store.
Gail has been working in Asda for the last 14 years, while Mark started when he was just 16 and has been there for over 12 years.
Speaking to MyFermanagh, Gail and Mark said the colleagues they have met over the years have been the main reason they have stayed for so long.
“I love being part of the team and getting to meet new people every day. I love helping people and you’ll find some great characters in our store,” Mark said.
“I joined Asda Enniskillen when I was just 16 years old and haven’t gone anywhere else.
“I was only temporary when I started but I really loved it. I met many friends over the years and a good few have moved on now, they call me the last man standing – but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I’m a checkout operator, I love it because I get to talk to people every day and I’ve gotten to know a lot of our regular customers really well over the years.”
Gail added that there has been a really ‘tight bunch’ working at the store for a while now.
“We’re a pretty tight bunch here, I love everyone I work with,” she said.
“I get on great with Mark, we have similar roles and would see each other regularly.
“He would be very good friends with my brother too so it’s good to have him by my side in Asda.
“I like mixing with people and getting a chat with everyone now and again.”
The store’s online trading manager Ian Preston said both Gail and Mark had made a telling contribution over the years.
“They are a great team and complement each other well,” Ian said.
“They both want the same for our customers and that is to give them the best service possible.
“Thank you Gail and Mark for your incredible contribution to Asda Enniskillen over the years.”
