The Argentine Foreign Ministry recently confirmed the safe arrival of its diplomatic personnel from the embassy in Caracas at Ezeiza Airport in Buenos Aires. The delegation, led by Chargé d'Affaires Andrés Mangiarotti, was warmly welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister Leopoldo Sahores upon their return.
In an official statement shared on social media, the Argentine Foreign Ministry disclosed that the diplomatic, military, and administrative staff from the Argentine Embassy in Venezuela, along with their families, had to depart the country in response to a summons issued by the government of Nicolás Maduro on July 29.
Nicolás Maduro's government had expelled Argentine diplomats, as well as those from other Latin American nations. However, the situation involving Argentina garnered particular attention due to the presence of several Venezuelan asylum seekers who had sought refuge in the embassy since March. Following the expulsion, Brazil took on the responsibility of managing the diplomatic representation and protection of the asylum seekers on Thursday.
