On Saturday, the XFL's D.C. Defenders clarified that their fans’ beloved “beer snake” will remain legal for the foreseeable future, so long as certain rules are followed.
On Sunday, the Defenders' fans celebrated accordingly.
As D.C. scored its third win in three games to start the 2023 season, Defenders fans responded by constructing yet another lengthy beer snake at Audi Field in Washington. The new snake quickly went viral during D.C.’s 34–28 victory over the St. Louis BattleHawks.
Defenders fans’ snake was forcibly dismantled during D.C.’s 22–18 victory over the Seattle Sea Dragons in its home opener on Feb. 19. It set off a lemon-throwing protest, forcing officials to clarify proper snake etiquette.
"For the safety of all fans, the beer snake will be permitted in Sections 136 and 137 contingent on fans following the game day code of conduct," the team previously announced Saturday.
The Defenders' next home game is scheduled to take place on March 12 against the Vegas Vipers.
