Apple announced its newest iPhone update earlier this week, iOS 16.
Since the first iPhone was revealed in 2007, Apple has had huge success with their phone and Statista numbers show they had the highest market share of any phone manufacturer in the last quarter of 2021, the Irish Mirror reports.
The latest update is expected to be made publicly available later this year, and will work with fewer phones than initially predicted. Currently, iOS 15 works with all Apple phones from the iPhone 6s and onwards.

With iPhones so important to the world's economy and everyday lives of people, some will be wondering if their old phone will soon become obsolete, while some will be marked as vintage.
iOS16 will not be compatible with the following iPhones:
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone SE (1st generation)
If you own any of these phones, you won't be able to use them with iOS16 - or use any of its features. Reports suggest iOS16 will include a new style lock screen with some design cues from the Portrait Watch Face on the Apple Watch, whilst also allowing widgets to be made visible on the lock screen itself.
