All day Marvel event to celebrate magic of comic books

Special guests are to gather at a community cinema for an all-day Marvel event.

Crosby's Plaza Community Cinema is set to host an all-day Marvel event on Saturday, March 25. Illustrators, writers and editors from Marvel, DC and the Beano will be appearing at the event for a celebration of all things comic books.

The event will consist of interviews, audience Q&A sessions and the opportunity for meet and greets.

The all-star line-up will include Charlie Adlard, a British comic book artist who is best known for his work on The Walking Dead, as well as the X Files and Green Lantern, Candi Milo, an American voiceover artist, who has worked for Disney and Steven Spielberg, among many other talented comic book artists from across Marvel, DC, the Beano and Doctor Who.

Former Spiderman editor and event organiser, Tim Quinn said: “I was born and bred in Waterloo and Crosby, which is where my love of comic books started. I particularly enjoyed the American superhero comics, so it was a real blast to end up working with the Marvel creator Stan Lee many years later”.

He added: “The Plaza was my family’s local cinema so I could think of no better venue to hold this event. I called up all my friends and colleagues from nearly fifty years in the business and they are all looking forward to visiting Liverpool”.

Also appearing at the event will be Quarrymen drummer Colin Hanton, as well as former BBC Radio Merseyside host Billy Butler. The event will run from 10am to 5pm, with tickets now available from the Plaza Community Cinema for £10.
