As the colder months begin to settle in, it's officially the time of year to begin thinking of some warming meals that you can whip up in the kitchen to feel less chilly.
Of course, one of the best ways to do this during the colder period is with a hearty roast dinner filled to the brim with all the trimmings.
Not to mention that Christmas is just over a month away, meaning that if you're a fan of a giant festive feast, you'll be wanting to get in as much prep as you can before the big day officially arrives.
However, as the cost of living crisis continues to hit households around the country, it can be handy to know which supermarket is offering the cheapest prices for all the essentials this year.
Which is why finance experts at Cashlady.com investigated the prices of key roast dinner ingredients at eight of the UK's biggest supermarkets - and found that Aldi is once again delivering the low cost goods.
The budget supermarket chain has grown in popularity this year and recently overtook Morrisons as the UK's fourth largest supermarket as shoppers made the switch in a bid to save money.
The research looked at the cost of a full roast chicken dinner, complete with all the side trimmings, including roast potatoes, carrots, red cabbage, gravy granules, stuffing, cranberry sauce and Yorkshire puddings.
Based on the data, the experts found that Aldi fought off strong competition from Tesco, Asda and Lidl for the top spot with a total of just £8.73 for a family of four - that’s £2.19 per person.
Tesco was found to be offering the second cheapest prices with a total of £8.87, while Asda came in third with a total of £8.96. Interestingly, Aldi's fellow low cost supermarket rival Lidl only came in fourth with £9.21 for the same ingredients.
On the other end of the scale, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Waitrose would all cost shoppers over £10 for the same ingredients. Meanwhile, M&S continues to be one of the pricier supermarket options, as it came in last with a total of £16.20, which is almost double Aldi's budget-friendly price.
Consumer Finance Expert, Dan Whittaker, at CashLady.com said: "With rising energy prices and the overarching cost of living crisis, most Brits are finding themselves looking for ways to cut costs this autumn. One simple way to save money is to compare prices of everyday items, and it might be a great time to rethink your supermarket of choice for your weekly food shop.”
