The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a number of food and product recalls on popular items sold through major supermarkets and retailers.
Items include a pesto sauce, hog roast and baby formulas that are among the goods that have been recalled from shelves due to possible health and safety concerns.
Supermarkets Waitrose and Tesco along with manufacturer Abbott are affected, as they have had to issue the notices with shoppers being urged to check their households for any of the items.
Anyone who has purchased these products are being urged not to consume them and to return them to store where they will be given a full refund.
Food products from the supermarket shelves have been recalled due to the possibility or confirmed presence of salmonella.
The baby formulas from Abbott were recalled due to the potential presence of salmonella and Cronobacter sakazakii, but the distributor has confirmed that no traces of these bacteria were found in the distributed products.
Both the Alimentum and EleCare formulas are not available on supermarket shelves and are only used under medical supervision for infants with food allergies.
Abbott says that they continue to test for both diseases on all products and that they must return a negative result before they are distributed.
Customers who have purchased any of Abbott's baby formulas listed are particularly being urged not to feed their newborns or babies with the products and to immediately return them.
A spokesperson for Abbot has said: "We value the trust parents place in us for high quality and safe nutrition and we’ll do whatever it takes to keep that trust and resolve this situation.
At Abbott, our first priority is the health and safety of our customers. The voluntary recall only impacts Alimentum and EleCare in the UK. No other Abbott nutrition products – or Similac products – distributed in the UK are affected"

Tesco is recalling Tesco Hog Roast Style Pork with Apple Sauce because the crackling crumb sachet within the pack may contain Salmonella.

Waitrose & Partners Green Pesto with Basil
Waitrose has recalled their Green Pesto with Basil after the FSA found that traces of salmonella has been found in the product.
