A brand new hot yoga studio is opening in Cardiff

Cardiff is home to all sorts of gyms and fitness facilities, from state of the art 24/7 gyms to dance studios and international size pools and now it’s home to one more, a new hot yoga studio . We Move, is a brand-new hot yoga studio that just opened up in Dragon Athletics, Fairwater and its team are looking forward to bringing a new opportunity to the community

Hot yoga has been a growing fitness trend over the last decade, with studios popping up all across the country. Hot yoga differentiates itself from other streams of yoga in a major way. It’s performed in a room heated to 40 degrees. With the help of silent infrared heaters, the studio is kept warm, while still remaining peaceful enough for a relaxing class. The heat helps as it increases your muscle’s ability to stretch, allowing for deeper and more discipline movements.

Co-founder Tim Leng said he originally had “no intention to open a studio” but once he’d heard of the available yoga space, he couldn’t let the opportunity pass him by. Describing it as a “good space at the right time.” The team over at We Move is made up of four skilled teachers, who each got into the exercise in unique ways. Tim found hot yoga back in 2009 following a car accident that left him with whiplash. However, he soon found Hot Bikram yoga while living in London and found himself quickly recovering. Before he knew it, he found himself “addicted to yoga”. Taking him all the way out to LA, for a yoga teaching course in 2012.

Alongside Tim you can find Dave, Chantille, and Dan. All of whom are seen as equal partners in the studio, considering themselves to be more of a cooperative, with Tim describing it all as “slightly hippy-ish”.

"We're all in it together, we've all got a vested interest in making everything as great as can be," said Tim.

Describing the powers of hot yoga he said: "The heat allows the body to stretch further and detoxes you" and "It makes you feel amazing after a class"

Tim and his team then wasted no time getting the studio kitted out, stating that the team were looking to bring something new to the fairwater community.

" [it's] Something good for the community and it's healthy," he said. "It's not always easy, but you do what you're comfortable with"

The studio offers a number of classes, each covering different styles of hot yoga. Each instructor has a certain style they practice and alter their classes to match.

For example, if Bikram yoga, or ‘original hot yoga’ is what you’re looking for, then take a class with Tim. If you fancy a nice relaxing session, then check out Dave’s restorative flow classes.

But if you want to adventure to new styles such as Yin or Vinyasa then try a class with Dan or Chantille. Either way, We Move has a variety of hot yoga styles for everyone.
