An 84-year-old man has suffered a hip injury after being hit by a wave at Seaton Sluice beach.
At 3.40pm on Thursday January 20, Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade received a call from the Coastguard to support Blyth Coastguard Rescue Team after the North East Ambulance Service requested assistance.
It was reported that an 84-year-old man had been hit by a wave and suffered a possible hip injury on a beach at Seaton Sluice.

Members of the Brigade, along with colleagues from Blyth, kept the casualty warm and used specialist first aid equipment to provide immediate pain relief.
The ambulance service's Hazardous Area Response Team arrived at the scene and oversaw the safe transfer of the man to a stretcher.
He was then carried off the beach by Brigade members and Coastguard Rescue Officers, where he was then moved into an ambulance to be taken to the hospital for further assessment and treatment.
A spokesperson from the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade said: "The area of beach where the man had been walking was particularly steep, and a large wave had caught him off guard leading to him losing his balance and falling over.
"With relatively large high tides predicted over the next few days, we would urge all visitors to the coastline to be cautious and careful when in close proximity to the water's edge.
"We wish the gentleman a quick and speedy recovery from his injuries."
