Is there anything better than finding a new walking route? Grab your hat, scarf and gloves because we've put together some of the best winter walks in the area.
If you find yourself having a spare hour or two now Christmas is over, what better way to pass time than with one of these...
Gedling Country Park Trail
Gedling Country Park is around 580 acres of open space. With footpaths and trails for biking and hiking, the park also has a children’s play area. From the city centre, you can get on the NCT blue line 47 and get off at the stop, Gedling Country Park. If you're chilly or need a sit down, you can find your way to Cafe 1899 which serves both hot and cold food.

Blidworth Woods
Located near the southern section of Sherwood Forest, Blidworth Woods on Longdale Lane is a beautiful Nottinghamshire walking spot. Perfect for dog walking or going for a run, this is another walking route which has a cafe (located in the main car park.)
Nottingham University Jubilee Campus
After a walk around the Nottingham University Jubilee Campus, you can treat yourself to lunch or dinner at the Rose and Crown pub. The campus, near Wollaton close to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, has more modern views but a lovely trail nevertheless.
Burton Joyce River Circular
With idyllic views of the river, this walk takes you to Gunthorpe. For a nice stroll or to see the sunset against the water, the route takes you east across Burton Meadows.
Attenborough Nature Reserve
Attenborough Nature Reserve opened by Sir David Attenborough in 1996 is one of the more central working routes. The reserve attracts around half a million visitors each year. The reserve also has a cafe open between 9am and 4pm to stop and have a quick break or to treat yourself at the end of your walk.
