So many singles, so little time. Here are three songs to stream right away:
While most Song of the Summer candidates go the blockbuster, shock-and-awe route, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello opt for the laid-back approach on their single "Senorita" (Island). And it works very well.
The delicate, Latin-tinged ballad is playful and breezy as they trade lines like "Every touch is ooh-la-la-la, it's true la-la-la" until Cabello points out "Friends don't know the way you taste la-la-la." Well, she has a point there la-la-la.
The next TikTok-driven sensation is Blanco Brown's country/hip-hop hybrid "The Git Up" (Broken Bow), where the singer-songwriter, who has produced songs for Childish Gambino and Kane Brown, calls out dance steps as the chorus and offers a bit of encouragement for the verses. It may not work on every radio station the way "Old Town Road" has, but it'll certainly give Lil Nas X a run for his money on the summer wedding reception circuit and at teenage pool parties.
Marshmello offers a more traditional country-dance hybrid on his new single "One Thing Right" (Joytime Collective), with country star Kane Brown offering vocals with enough groove and twang that should definitely get Marshmello on country radio.
