There were 32 more Covid-19 fatalities and 1,740 new cases admitted to hospitals on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Monday.
This compared with 30 coronavirus-related fatalities and 2,390 cases admitted to hospitals on Saturday, as reported on Sunday.
As of midnight Sunday, a total of 23,985 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 24,702 the previous day), including 11,993 in hospitals (down from 12,290). Among the remainder, 285 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (up from 279) and 11,663 in home/community isolation (down from 12,102).
Of those in hospital, 890 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (up from 874) and 425 dependent on ventilators (up from 409).
The 24-hour period also saw 2,425 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
Of the 1,740 new cases admitted to hospitals over the 24 hours, there were 1,731 cases in the general population and nine among prison inmates.
From July 17 to 23, antigen tests showed that 29,231 people tested positive for Covid-19 daily on average.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,577,593 Covid-19 cases, including 2,354,158 this year, with 4,522,419 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 31,189 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 9,491 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 605,529 in 24 hours to 575.16 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 769 to 6.40 million.
The United States had the most cases at 92.19 million, up 22,556, and the most deaths at 1.05 million, up 17.
