Zoe Ball’s daughter injured in Christmas tree accident with father Fatboy Slim

BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball has revealed her daughter was taken to A&E after her ex-husband Norman Cook, known as the DJ Fatboy Slim, dropped a Christmas tree on her foot.

The 54-year-old said during her Wednesday morning show that Nelly is “going to be alright”, but was not able to go in for her last day of school or go ice skating with friends.

Ball said: “Sending love to my Nell. It was supposed to be her last day at school today, but unfortunately her dad unintentionally dropped a Christmas tree on her foot and she had to go to A&E yesterday and have an X-ray.

“But it’s okay, it’s just swollen, she’s going to be alright, but she was supposed to go ice skating with her friends from school today and she won’t be able to get her foot in the boot.

“The things that you don’t think are going to happen, he’s obviously very apologetic, poor love, this happens doesn’t it?

“What a story to tell though, so I’m sending her lots of love this morning.”

Ball began dating Cook when working at Radio 1, and the pair married at Babington House in Somerset in 1999.

They separated in 2003 after Ball revealed she had an affair with DJ Dan Peppe, but they reconciled and continued as a couple until 2016, when they announced their separation before divorcing in 2020.

They have two children together, son Woody who was born in 2000, and Nelly who was born in 2010.

Last month, Ball took to Instagram to reveal that she wakes up most days with “awful headaches” due to a painful health condition, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.

TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, is the joint connecting the lower jaw to the skull, located in front of each ear, according to the NHS.

Common symptoms include pain in the jaw, neck, and shoulders, headaches, restricted jaw movement or locking, dizziness, and vision issues.

Ball shared a photo of her face tensed before receiving treatment and an after shot of it more relaxed, saying she was “so grateful” to the clinic which has helped her.

The 54-year-old announced she was stepping down from hosting Radio 2’s Breakfast show after six years, with Scott Mills set to take over the slot.

Ball said that she felt it was time for her to “step away from the very early mornings and focus on family”.

The radio DJ, who took over presenting the morning programme in 2019 from Chris Evans, will host the show for the last time on December 20.

Mills, who currently hosts Radio 2’s weekday afternoon programme from 2-4pm, will begin fronting the programme from early January.
