Zoe Ball apologises after pulling out of BBC Radio 2 show - shortly after late start

Zoe Ball has apologised for pulling out of her BBC Radio 2 show this morning, with her having thanked listeners for their support following her unexpected absence earlier.

The radio presenter, 51, fronts her own breakfast show on weekdays and had been due to return to hosting duties for the first episode of the new week at 6.30am this morning.

It was however revealed that she was running late due to having a flat tyre, with travel reporter Richie Anderson covering until she took the reins back at around 6.50am.

She teased that her stand-in would be disappointed to not get to host the show for longer, though he was later giving that opportunity when she disappeared without warning.

Richie later explained that she had gone home as she wasn't "feeling too well," though no further details were provided to listeners of The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show this morning.

Zoe has since apologised for her absence in a post on Twitter, in which the Strictly Come Dancing alum opened up about why she didn't make it through her radio show.

She wrote: "Apologies for this morning gang, tyre went on the way in to work. I was so keen not miss the show, dashed in and hadn't quite realised the effect it'd had on me."
