Zinchenko, Smith Rowe, Tomiyasu: Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Liverpool

European nights returned to the Emirates Stadium on Thursday as Arsenal faced off against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League group stages. While eight changes were made, the Gunners still held plenty of control in the match, winning 3-0 in front of the home crowd with an impressive performance.

It takes Mikel Arteta's side top of Group A after two games played, with a return clash against Bodo/Glimt in Norway next Thursday. Before then, they face the tough test of Liverpool at home, who have had a slow start to the season by their recent standards, but are more than capable of punishing their opponents.

It means Arsenal will have to be at the top of their game and while they see some players making a return to fitness, there could be one key omission from the squad. With that said, here's a look at the latest Arsenal injury news.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleskandr Zinchenko missed Arsenal training on Wednesday ahead of the Gunners' opening home Europa League group stage match against FK Bodo/Glimt, football.london understands. The Ukraine international wasn't involved with the squad for the victory, taken as a precaution rather than a serious injury.

Cedric Soares

Cedric has fully recovered from the injury he picked up last week, featuring on the bench in the clash against Bodo/Glimt. The defender has been unable to pick up any minutes so far this season due to injury, though duo Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu will now be battling him for a place in the side on the flank.

Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny is still suffering from a hamstring injury which he picked up against Fulham last month. It's likely to keep him out for a few months, with Arteta describing the injury as 'long term'.

His return date is unknown, but it could see him out of action as long as the new year. With a busy fixture schedule ahead, the Gunners will be keen to have the Egypt international involved once again.

Expected return date: Unknown

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Tomiyasu has struggled to get into the Arsenal team this season, with Ben White securing his shirt at right-back this season in a switch made by Arteta. While on international duty, the Japanese FA confirmed that he had made an early return to London Colney in a statement, claiming it was down to 'club circumstances'.

While there was no known injury, he was on the bench from the start of the Tottenham clash and came on late into the game. The defender was handed his second start of the season against Bodo/Glimt and avoided picking up another injury during the clash.

Reiss Nelson

Nelson returned to the matchday squad against Spurs and made his first appearance of the season in the Europa League game against Bodo/Glimt. The youngster struggled with injury early in the season, and is yet to force his way into the side since his loan spell at Dutch side Feyenoord.

Emile Smith Rowe

Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has struggled to get his season kickstarted, suffering with injury from pre-season before making his return from the bench against Manchester United. That didn't last too long though, with the winger struggling with another knock in the warm down.

The England international has since undergone surgery, but is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines without an expected date date of return.

Expected return date: Unknown
