Manchester United confirm Lisandro Martinez transfer
Manchester United have confirmed the imminent signing of Argentina international Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.
United have agreed a fee of £46.8million, rising to £55.3m, for Martinez on a five-year contract, plus an extra optional year. The club say the deal is still subject to a medical, but an announcement was required as Ajax had to inform the Amsterdam stock exchange of material transactions.
Martinez, 24, flew into Manchester on Friday with his agent and United are expected to complete the deal in the coming days. United manager Erik ten Hag wanted Martinez signed in time to link up with the squad on their pre-season tour in Australia but he will not travel to Perth and is likely to make his debut against Atletico Madrid in Oslo on July 30.

Zidane Iqbal explains what he’s doing to impress Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag
Zidane Iqbal insists it is too early to decide whether to leave United on loan this season.
Iqbal is threatening to become the breakout youngster of United's pre-season tour after impressing as a half-time substitute in the 4-0 win over Liverpool in Bangkok and the 4-1 victory against Melbourne Victory this week. The 19-year-old made his United debut against Young Boys in the Champions League group stage in December and signed a new contract earlier this month until 2025.
Iqbal is effectively the third-choice central midfielder under Erik ten Hag as United fail to make any significant headway with a deal for Frenkie de Jong. United are expected to eventually reinforce their midfield and so Iqbal is reluctant to make a hasty decision on his immediate future.
