'Zero to Hero!' - National media react as Arsenal come from behind to win vs Fulham

Arsenal are the only Premier League side to maintain a 100% record after winning their opening four games of the season.

The Gunners fell behind following a rare mistake from Gabriel Magalhaes that allowed in-form Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to sneak in and fire the ball past Aaron Ramsdale. Many fans thought the worst with just half an hour to play, but a quick response was hailed by Mikel Arteta as Arsenal showed their mentality and resilience.

Club captain Martin Odegaard popped up with an equaliser just eight minutes after the Gunners went 1-0 down, with the Norwegian's shot taking a deflection to wrong foot former Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno. Gabriel redeemed himself as he scored the winner late in the game from a corner after a length VAR review.

The Gunners continue to impress supporters with their development and performances this season, currently leading the way and sitting top of the Premier League table. William Saliba has been a revelation in defence since his return from Marseille, and Ben White's adjustment to right-back offers Arteta plenty of options at the back.

Bukayo Saka is still yet to hit his best form but the impact summer signing Gabriel Jesus has had in attack means there is now a shared responsibility to score goals. So, after Arsenal's impressive comeback against Fulham, here's how the national media reacted to the win.

The Daily Mail

"When the final whistle sounded on this frantic, fiery, frankly bonkers win over Fulham, Arsenal's resident DJ pressed play.

"The first song on his post-match playlist? Tequila, and before long, the Emirates was bouncing to the tune of an old classic. One they have adapted in honour of William Saliba.

"For perhaps the first time this season, however, the French defender had played in the shadow of his centre-back partner. This was an evening that belonged to Gabriel Magalhaes. Eventually, for the right reasons, after he turned home a late winner that maintains Arsenal's 100 per cent record and keeps Mikel Arteta's side top of the table."

The Mirror

"Arsenal remain top of the table after their fourth win in four, but this time around, it wasn't as straightforward as their cruise against Bournemouth. The Gunners found themselves behind after Mitrovic's opener, and for a long time, it looked as though each side were going to have to make do with a point each, with the hosts struggling to really threaten the Fulham goal.

"However, for the first time this season, the Gunners were able to come from behind and win the game. That is certainly a feature that will bode well for the remainder of the campaign as Arsenal attempt to seal their return to the Champions League."

The Guardian

"Something special is stirring in north London as Arsenal players and fans celebrated a come-from-behind victory over Fulham, energy permeated around the stadium, touching all those who stood in its wake.

"'Just like the old days,' suggested one season-ticket holder to his friend. Now, such talk is a little premature. While pretty enough, this performance was, for long periods, ineffective. But what Arsenal do have is a new-found resilience.

"Take Gabriel Magalhães. His dallying on the edge of the area allowed Aleksandar Mitrovic to steal possession and put Fulham ahead. But after Martin Ødegaard's equaliser, Gabriel bundled home a winner to ensure Arsenal will end the weekend at the league's summit."
