Zendaya guest stars in The OA season two, you weren't imagining it

Yes, you did just see Zendaya in The OA season two premiere.

Netflix dropped the new season of the long-awaited The OA early on Friday morning, two years after it first premiered.

Those watching it already were surprised to see a familiar face as a guest star. Zendaya popped up all grunged and dreadlocked.

Season two opens with a new plot, as a grandmother approaches San Francisco detective Karim (Kingsley Ben-Adir) to find her granddaughter.

Karim finds out the girl has been hooked on an online game which takes him to a halfway house for its other fans.

Here we meet Zendaya in glasses. The actress plays a gamer called Fola, though we never hear her name it crops up in closed captions.

She tells the detective: “It’s not a game. It’s a puzzle. A game is one side against another. There’s a winner and a loser. Puzzles don’t have losers.”

Fola leads Karim to the puzzle’s next level that she has been unable to solve. We then pick back up with Brit Marling’s character, Prairie.

Zendaya follows The OA’s surprising guest star list, singer Sharon Van Etten appeared in season one, and two, as captive Rachel.

Of course, while Zendaya is now a star of the big screen this isn’t her first TV role. She started out on the Disney Channel in Shake It Up, and she’s due to star in HBO’s Euphoria later this year.
