In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Dune co-stars Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet shared a rather amusing story about their first encounter. It turns out that their initial meeting took place at an airport before filming for the sci-fi adventure movie commenced. As they sat together for the interview, the actors revealed the details with a hint of laughter.
Chalamet, 28, admitted, 'There was a weird airport meeting,' to which Zendaya, 27, chimed in, 'Yeah, we were on the same flight, and I fell in the airport, and that was technically our first meeting.' Hearing this, their castmate Florence Pugh burst into laughter, clearly amused by the memory.
Although Zendaya tersely remarked, 'I don't wanna talk about it,' Pugh couldn't resist digging for more information. 'You fell? And did he help you?' Pugh asked, referring to Chalamet. However, the young actor shook his head with a sheepish smile and admitted, 'No. No. Ignore it.'
Curiosity got the better of Zendaya as she questioned Chalamet, 'Did you actually...did you see me fall?' Chalamet confessed, 'I think I just saw Zendaya fall,' recollecting his thoughts from that day.
Perplexed by his seemingly unchivalrous response, Pugh pressed further. 'You didn't go get her and help her?' she asked, expecting a different reaction from Chalamet. He simply replied, 'Well, I didn't know her! I didn't know what to do!'
Host Jimmy Kimmel appeared just as surprised. 'Oh, wow. Interesting,' he remarked, turning to Zendaya, 'And then no help whatsoever, huh? And yet somehow you got past that and bonded?'
Amidst laughter, Zendaya responded, 'It's been forgiven,' implying that the incident did not hinder their friendship. Chalamet humorously added, 'I've been forgiven, and there's a certain amount of therapy, and now we're here.'
The four actors appeared on the late-night show to promote Dune: Part 2, set to hit theaters on March 1. Throughout the interview, they discussed the strong bond they formed while shooting the sequel.
Chalamet expressed his admiration for his co-stars, stating, 'Speaking personally, I have great friendships with everyone here.' He even revealed that Zendaya had been kind enough to assist him in setting up his first apartment in New York City.
With a mischievous smile, Zendaya mentioned that she helped bring 'structure' to the living quarters. She jokingly remarked, 'Well, the vibe was very teenage boy. And we just needed a few necessities—you know, cups and plates, knives and forks, things to clean. We needed some structure.'
Chalamet enthusiastically added, 'There was a bed—no bed frame!' His words drew laughter from the audience, while Pugh suggested that he didn't even own a bed until Zendaya stepped in to help him out. Confirming Pugh's statement, Zendaya playfully said, 'We got everything he needed—all the big boy stuff.'
The entertaining airport mishap and subsequent friendship-building moments between Zendaya and Chalamet give fans a peek into the fun dynamics behind the scenes of Dune. As the release date for Dune: Part 2 looms closer, fans can look forward to witnessing the chemistry between these talented actors on the big screen. It's clear that their off-screen camaraderie only serves to enhance their on-screen performances.
