Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for Switch reportedly in September Nintendo Direct

It seems that Nintendo could reveal Nintendo Switch ports of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess relatively soon.

During this week’s Last of the Nintendogs podcast (thanks, Gamesradar), GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti and Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb claim that both fan-favorite Gamecube Zelda titles will get a Switch announcement at an upcoming Nintendo Direct.

“We are committing to it: there’s going to be a Nintendo Direct in September,” Minotti said. “The one thing we are very, very sure is getting announced at this Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch.”

“I think there’s going to be a lot of Zelda stuff at this thing,” Grubb said. “I think this is going to be a Zelda blowout for Nintendo.”

Nintendo has yet to announce a Direct for September, but Grubb was adamant that the showcase is happening one way or another. There’s still some confusion regarding the nature of this potential broadcast, though.

“100 percent there’s a Nintendo Direct in September — it’s that simple,” Grubb continues. “If they’re going to have Zelda stuff there, this is not a Partner Direct, and those are the things that we’ve been hearing. The specifics that were name-dropped were Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD ports to the Switch.”

After the success of Skyward Sword HD, it only makes sense that Nintendo would put Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD on the Switch as well. We think it’s been a long time coming, in all honesty.
