Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Where to get the Paraglider

The paraglider was an unmissable item in Breath of the Wild, but in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll leave the tutorial area without finding it. That’s because you need to head to a different location and follow a quest to get the previous glider. It’s one of the most important items in the game, so you’re going to want it as early as possible, so we’ll tell you where to go and what to do to find it.

If you want to know where to start, then check out our Tears of the Kingdom tips, or our guides for the Ukuoh Shrine, Gutanbac Shrine, or Nachoyah Shrine.

Lookout Landing – Zelda TotK

Once you’re off the Great Sky Island for the tutorial, Lookout Landing will be automatically marked on the map for you. It’s near the floating Hyrule Castle, near the tower you’ll no doubt see in front of it. Head there using whatever method you choose.

After you arrive, go talk to Robbie in the north of tow, who will direct you to Purah.

Find Captain Hoz – Zelda TotK

While you may not want to go there yet, Purah will insist you head towards Hyrule Castle, as Captain Hoz is investigating there and may be in danger. Go straight to the gates, complete the nearby Kryononis Shrine, and head inside.

Use Ultrahand to open the gates and head toward the First Gatehouse, where you’ll see Captain Hoz up on the roof. Making a bridge to climb up to him isn’t too tricky, and it’s better than trying to climb in the rain. You’ll get a cutscene when you reach him and then will have to return to Purah.

Getting the Paraglider – Zelda TotK

Upon his return, Purah will tell Link about Skyview Towers, which you can use to take to the skies. To ensure she isn’t sending Link to a grizzly death by falling, she’ll give him the Paraglider for a safe descent. Just like in the previous game, this is a permanent item that you can use in the air whenever you want – provided you have the stamina for it.
