With both Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet recently getting exclusive Switch OLED models, it seemed a certainty that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would get one too, and finally, we have an official announcement.
The Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED releases on April 28, 2023 and will cost $359.99.
It was shown off in the recent 13-minute gameplay video released on the Nintendo of America YouTube channel, which has shown exclusive Tears of the Kingdom gameplay.
The dock is covered in beautiful golden runes on a white background, mimicking the pattern on Link’s iconic Hero’s Shield. It’s a lovely piece of Zelda imagery and the perfect fit for Tears of the Kingdom. The console itself mixes gold and green, which seem to be the key colors of the strange constructs that plague the lands in this new game.
The Nintendo Switch OLED has a bigger screen than the original Nintendo Switch, alongside more-built in storage space and a better screen.
This isn’t all that was announced though, as both a carrying case and a Switch Pro controller have been revealed too, barring similar patterns. These will also be released on April 28, 2023, a couple of weeks ahead of the game on May 12, 2023.
