Zayn Malik shows off drastic new look in ultra rare selfie after teasing comeback

Zayn Malik has delighted fans as he posted a rare photo of himself on his Instagram page.

The former One Direction singer, 30, shared the selfie with his 47.9 million followers and debuted a new look in the photo – which is very different to recent snaps of his long dyed locks.

Zayn, who recently shared a sweet childhood throwback photo, is pouting at the camera while sat in the front of a car and wearing a seatbelt.

He is wearing a blue shirt underneath an orange patterned crew neck jumper.

Dusk Till Dawn singer Zayn wore his hair, which appears to have returned back to Zayn's natural dark colour, has been tied back away from his face while the sides of Zayn's head are shaved.

Stepping away from the rugged beard he has donned in recent photos, Zayn was pictured with a neatly trimmed moustache and stubble on his chin.

Zayn, who recently sent fans wild by singing a One Direction song, uploaded the image without a caption and many fans soon rushed to the comments gush over the singer's new look.

One wrote: "m just minding my business scrolling through insta, then I see this beautiful face; I’m like… heeyyyy whoooo diss “how you doinnnn”".

Another added: "Well... hello" followed by a red heart emoji while a third said: "We missed uuuu". [sic]

Last month, Zayn teased a musical comeback as he posted a black and white photo of himself stood in front of a microphone.

Fans were quick to ask about his music as one said: "Ummm is Mr. Zayn Malik making a comeback?!!!"

"Hopefully we’re getting new music soon," another said while a third added: "King is back" followed by the fire emoji.

Zayn's latest snap comes after his former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles won two Grammy Awards; one for the Album of the Year and another for the Best Pop Vocal Album, which sparked an animated reaction from Adele.

The 29-year-old singer's acceptance speech at the ceremony in Los Angeles caused quite a stir when suggesting that global award wins don't "happen to people like me very often".

Despite coming from rather humble beginnings back in England, and even working in a bakery as a youngster, some fans weren’t convinced with his choice of words.

"I gotta be honest I can’t think of a type of people this happens for more," blasted one follower on social media after hearing the speech live.

While another commented: "He was middle (upper middle?) class growing up."

But others defended the As It Was singer as one wrote: "I am British (and Northern) and anyone in Britain knew exactly what he meant.

"A working-class boy from the North isn't normally the type of people that becomes as successful as him in the UK. It would have been seen as a success to just finish high school."
