Zayn Malik has returned to Instagram since his reported split with girlfriend Gigi Hadid, after he was alleged to have assaulted her mother Yolanda Hadid.

Last month, it was reported that Malik had been charged with four counts of harassment against 57-year-old Yolanda for an incident that occurred on 29 September.

Now, the 28-year-old has posted on Instagram for the first time since news of the altercation broke in October.

The post appears to be an advert for a collaboration with sustainable eyewear company Arnette, and shows the singer wearing a pair of shades with the caption “DROPHEAD”.

Many of the comments on the post are from fans who say they support the singer, despite the charges against him.

One person wrote: “WE STAND WITH YOU! ❤️”

Another said: “Love you Zayn , just be yourself.”

Someone else commended Malik for not turning off commenting on his post.

They said: “ZAYN BEING THE REAL KING AND NOT SWITCHING OFF HIS COMMENTS.”

According to TMZ, the former One Direction star pleaded no contest, meaning he won’t try to fight the charges in court.

Malik was given 90 days probation for each charge – a total of 360 days.

Days before the news of the altercation broke last month, Zayn posted a picture of himself that appeared to show tears in his eyes.

Along with probation, Malik is required to take an anger management class and complete a domestic violence programme.

He is also forbidden from having contact with Yolanda as well as a security guard that was present at the incident.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Malik said: “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in.

“A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.”

He continued: “In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed not to contest the claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
