Zay Jones, Walker Little may return to practice next week

The Jacksonville Jaguars offense may be getting two key offensive contributors back on the field soon.

On Friday, a day after the team earned a 31-24 win over the New Orleans Saints, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said he expects offensive lineman Walker Little and wide receiver Zay Jones to potentially be back on the practice field ahead of a Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We kept Zay Jones and Walker Little back. … I expect Walker and Zay to maybe get on the practice field this next week,” Pederson said. “We’re doing okay on the injury front, we’re just knicked up right now and banged up a little bit. This is a good time for this mini bye.”

Jones, 28, suffered a knee injury in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs that kept him out the next two weeks. In his first game back, Jones re-injured the same knee in Week 5 and hasn’t practiced since.

Little, 24, also suffered a knee injury in Week 5 and has been out of action in the last two weeks.

Getting either player back would be a boon for the Jaguars offense. Little has quickly developed into one of the team’s most reliable offensive linemen and moved from left tackle to left guard after Cam Robinson’s four-game suspension to begin the season ended. Jones began the year with five receptions for 55 yards in the season opener and caught his second touchdown of the year in Week 5 before leaving the game.
