Zara ‘won’t’ meet Mike Tindall on I’m A Celeb bridge in Australia as ‘kids need her more’

Zara Tindall isn't likely to meet husband Mike Tindall at the iconic I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! bridge at the end of his jungle stint, according to one former campmate.

Edwina Currie, who took part in the 14th series, doubts Zara will be heading down under to meet Mike after his time in the jungle. She claimed the royal's children "need her more" so it's unlikely she'll fly out for Mike's exit.

There has been a lot of mixed views about some of the celebrity campmates taking part in this years series, focussing on Boy George and MP Matt Hancock, but Mike hasn't escaped criticism either. However, since the show began airing he has become a fan-favourite among viewers as many believe he could be crowned King Of The Jungle.

Each year, whenever a campmate is evicted from the series, they walk across the famous bridge which leads them away from the jungle and into the arms of their loved ones. Many fans have been speculating whether Zara would be at the other end of the bridge when Mike eventually leaves the show.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Edwina explained: "I don’t think she’ll come because she’d be there now. My own opinion is that she won’t be there, not least because the kids need her more than anything. She’ll be very conscious as the monarch's niece that you can take this kind of publicity a bit too far.

I'm A Celeb's Mike Tindall moved to tears after receiving letter from royal wife Zara (ITV)

"They don’t need the publicity, therefore I would be surprised if she goes. My guess is that the person who will welcome him at the end of the bridge will be one of his rugby mates.

"I think Mike is starting to look bored. There’s no alcohol, no mates and it’s not really the same as being able to go out on a Saturday and have a good night out.

"Maybe he’s one of the people Boy George has in mind when he says they’re not being themselves. I think he can’t wait to get out, maybe have a few days in Australia to enjoy himself and then get home," she said.

The Royal Family are less than impressed with Mike's decision to take part in the reality show, as Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly "very upset" with him. Angela Levin recently claimed William and Kate have been left "very upset and very sad" by his jungle stint.

Mike touched on how he first met Zara and delved into their boozy first date, explaining: "I was at the World Cup, she was out watching. I got dropped from the semi-final. I was p****d off and so I went for a beer with another guy who got dropped and a guy who was over [in Sydney].

“They'd met her before and they introduced us and then got chatting. First actual date, just went out for lunch locally. And ended up being quite a boozy one. Then we figured out that we both quite like getting smashed. It was a good start."

Edwina said Mike "needs to be extremely careful about what he says about the Royal Family".

"I'm pretty sure he is watching what he says. Some of the stories he has told have been a bit naughty, like splitting his pants in front of Princess Anne.

"It might well be that he knows not to share too much like that as sometimes it can be too much information and becomes a bit unpleasant."

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight on STV at 9pm.
