Zara shoppers only have 'one word' for 'criminal' £20 bikini

Zara shoppers were amused by a quirky photo of the brand's orange cut-out bikini top after spotting it online.

High street favourite Zara is incredibly popular among fashion lovers, especially in Liverpool where its city centre store often boasts queues to get in that are so long, they stretch around buildings. Zara has a loyal online following, with shoppers eager to snap up all its latest product launches.

Parody Instagram account Awkward Zara has also built a dedicated social media presence, thanks to regular tongue-in-cheek posts which mock some of the brand's more unusual outfits, as well as some of its more eccentric campaign and website photos. The account already has 66.6K followers.

Zara fans are well versed on the brand's signature aesthetic, with models regularly posing on its website at unusual angles, reminiscent of magazine editorials. Some products are often photographed posed on inanimate objects like teddy bears, food and more.

Though this only heightens Zara's trademark style, it can sometimes make it difficult for shoppers to figure out how to style some products - with @awkwardzara taking every opportunity to show the funny side. In that vein, the comedic account recently shared a photo of Zara's Cut-Out Bikini Top.

The top costs £19.99 and features cut-out detailing on the front, with adjustable straps. In the image, it has been styled over the top of a sleeveless tiger-print jumper and is twisted at an angle.

Captioning the image, @awkwardzara joked: "When you’re the only kid with conservative parents at the pool party". Followers and Zara fans alike took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the image, with others offering their own version of the caption.

One said: "I worry that stringy bikinis will get twisted but seeing this advert has really put my mind at rest, so thanks Zara, I'll [defo be] buying now". Hilary said: "One word - why?"

Minnie quipped: "When you're scared to get sunburn at the beach." Helen said: "When you’re trying to style out the fact that you got your bikini top in such a knot you’ve had it on since Summer 2020."

Clare commented: "it looks like she’s ripped it putting it on? And just imagine the tan lines without the jumper! I can sort of see the thinking behind this outfit now".

Jo said: "what is this…" Lizzie replied: "it’s criminal Jo. That’s what it is".

Caley said: "what the hell". Jace added: "hhahahahahhaha".

Other shoppers simply posted crying laughing emojis while some tagged their friends to direct them to the post. You can find your nearest Zara store here.
