Zara McDermott confuses fans with Botox and filler claim after sharing throwback pic

Zara McDermott has confused fans with a before and after photo - claiming she hasn't had any surgery since leaving Love Island.

The Love Island star, 25, compared a photo of herself aged 22 with one of her taken recently, writing: "Omg how crazy is it how much your face can change!!!!! (I've not had any surgery btw) I was 22 here and this is what I look like now... the change!! I'm almost 26 now."

Fans couldn't get over how different the influencer looked in both pics, but were baffled when Zara then shared her journey with Botox and fillers.

Admitting she's 'always had a small amount of jaw filler', the TV star revealed she'd had the aesthetic procedure in both the before and after snaps.

Explaining her experience with Botox, she said: "I love mine. I personally only get my Botox done by my dentist (they know my face extremely well), or a doctor/nurse. I have been given Botox before by someone not fully qualified (I only found out after!!!)

"And now I look back and kick myself for accepting a treatment just because the price was good,' she continued, before advising fans to 'do your research'.

Zara attributed her current fresh-faced look to drinking 3L of water a day, a strict skincare routine, healthy diet and regular exercise.

But fans messaged her pointing out she'd said she hadn't had surgery, despite admitting to getting Botox and fillers.

Quick to clear up any confusion, Zara replied: "I always want to be open and transparent on here as this is a transparent space.

"For transparency, yes I get Botox, I started getting it when I was younger. It's not always something I'm singing about from the rooftops though because of mindful of encouraging others to do the same.

"That's not because I regret or dislike my Botox, on the contrary, I love mine. But for me there's something different about fillers and Botox.

"Fillers are dissolvable but with Botox if someone applies it wrong, too much or too frequently, it can damage your face."

She's come a long way from Love Island (ITV)

Addressing her 'no surgery' claim, she continued: "I personally never considered aesthetic procedures surgery. Surgery to me is going under the knife.

"Small aesthetic procedures are procedures, not surgery (not to me anyway).

"Nothing has changed for me procedure wise from when I was 22 and 26. I get Botox every 6 months and filler every 2 years. Hence why I attributed my facial change to other factors' she cleared up."
