Zara accused of 'playing' with shoppers over hysterical £26 mini bag

Zara shoppers were hysterical after spotting a quirky image of the beloved retailer's mini crossbody bag online.

High street favourite Zara is phenomenally popular among fashion lovers, particularly in Liverpool where its city centre store regularly sees queues to get in that are so long, they stretch around buildings. Zara has a loyal online following, with shoppers keen to get their hands on its newest product launches.

Parody Instagram account Awkward Zara has amassed a loyal following after consistently sharing posts poking fun at the brand's more unusual outfits and accessories, as well as some of its unconventional campaign and website photos. The account currently boasts 69K followers.

Zara fans are more than familiar with the brand's signature aesthetic, with models often posing on its website at unusual angles, more commonly associated with magazine editorials. Some products are even photographed posed on inanimate objects like teddy bears, food and more.

Though this highlights Zara's trademark style, it can sometimes make it difficult for shoppers to figure out how to style certain products - with @awkwardzara ensuring to show the funny side. This was the case when the comedic account shared a photo of Zara's Half-Moon Mini Crossbody Bag.

The bag costs £25.99 and comes in summery pink and yellow shades. It's complete with top handles, and an adjustable and detachable crossbody strap. In one of the website images of the bag, it's displayed on top of a pink teddy bear in place of the plush toy's head.

This was the image @awkwardzara chose to share on Instagram. Captioning a carousel of Zara photos, the account quipped: "the only reasonable explanation for this one is that Stranger Things just ended and @zara spotted an opening."

Followers and Zara fans alike took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the image. One said: "Oh ffs Zara. I'm crying laughing heaven forbid they just post a normal photo of a bag!"

Another joked: "You know the head is being used in the photoshoot for Zara underwear or something!" Dee said: "It just feels like they're playing with us now….."

Libby commented: "what the hell! Typical". Nicola told a friend: "I know we say this everytime but this has to be the worst!!!" Emma added: "what is going on here?!"

Other shoppers simply posted crying laughing emojis while some tagged their friends to direct them to the post. You can find your nearest Zara store here.
