Zak Lovelace facing a fresh Rangers injury concern

Rangers youngster Zak Lovelace has potentially suffered another injury setback.

The attacker lasted just 35 minutes on the park as Rangers B defeated Clyde in a Glasgow Cup fixture last night.

The forward received lengthy treatment after going down, before eventually being replaced by Archie Stevens - who was one of the goalscorers on the night, with the game ending 3-1 Rangers.

Findlay Curtis opened the scoring, with Paul Nsio grabbing a second for his second before the break.

Head coach Malky Thomson said on Rangers TV: "Obviously Zak Lovelace had started the game and Archie was a wee bit disappointed not to start.

"He's managed to get starting berths pretty regularly but Zak came in here so he had to come off the bench. He showed a great positive attitude coming off the bench. He came on and really tuned himself into the game and played well.

"Findlay scores again, he's just a player who enjoys playing football. You can see in some of his movements, how he gets on the ball and how attack-minded he is.

"He's regularly training with the first team and he's obviously picking up bits from them.

"Worth mentioning too that Paul Nsio had an excellent game as well."

Clinton Nsiala, Alex Lowry and Bailey Rice all started the match for Rangers B.

Lovelace suffered a serious injury on his full debut for the club in October 2023 during a 3-0 victory over St Mirren.

The Englishman had to be stretchered off in Paisley. He's only been seen in the first team picture once since.

That came as Philippe Clement's side thumped FCSB 4-0 in the Europa League last month.

It's expected that the manager will provide an update on his fitness when next speaking to the media.
