Zain Westbrooke says it was the chance to work with Paul Tisdale again that lured him to Stevenage.
The midfielder left Bristol Rovers on loan for the rest of the season on Monday after making just nine appearances for Joey Barton's Gas this campaign.
The 25-year-old has linked up with Tisdale, who took over at Rovers midway through last season and lasted 19 games before being sacked, at the Lamex Stadium.
And the playmaker says he shares the same vision for the game as the former Gas boss as he moves to Hertfordshire in search of more playing opportunities.
"I'm happy to be here and hopefully I can help the team get to where it needs to be," Westbrooke told the club's website.
"I know this club, I used to play here a lot for Brentford and I know Tis from working with him last year and that was the main attraction for me.
"I really enjoyed working under him and the type of football he plays and the environment he has with Mel (Gwinnett). It really attracted me to come here.
"I haven't been playing for a little bit now and I just want to get back and enjoy it.
"Attacking play, creativity, goals, work rate. Everything with how Tis likes to play football is how I like to play, so hopefully, it shows.
"I'm fit. I played in the FA Cup two weeks ago. I've been ready and waiting to get a chance at Rovers, which hasn't happened lately so I'm raring to go."
Westbrooke, Rovers' second departure of the window after Mark Hughes' move to Plymouth Argyle's coaching staff, is contracted with the Gas until 2023.
Stevenage sit 21st in League Two, five points adrift of the Gas.
