Zach Wilson ready to ‘make life hell’ for potential veteran quarterback competitor

Zach Wilson seems well aware that, at the very least, he’ll be in a training camp battle to regain his spot as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets. The Jets could be bringing in a veteran quarterback in an effort to get the offense on track with all the pieces they already have on offense.

If the Jets do happen to bring in a veteran quarterback, Wilson will be ready for a battle. He’s willing to be a part of a competition and says he’s “gonna make that dude’s life hell in practice every day.”

Wilson says he’s focusing on what he can control and attacking the offseason. He wants to be with the Jets but understands it’s out of his control.

Wilson has two years left on his contract and less than $10 million remaining in total money. The Jets can easily keep him and develop him, as the team has continuously said they are committed to doing. Speculation has already started that the Jets could trade Wilson, especially if they do land a veteran quarterback.

They could always still keep Wilson as the No. 2 quarterback and let him sit and learn, as offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur commented could have helped Wilson in hindsight.

No matter what happens, Wilson will be ready to compete.
