Zach Lowe: Lakers are not trading Anthony Davis

Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis is a special player at both ends of the floor, but he has also been the subject of a lot of criticism from fans.

Because he is injury-prone and not always as aggressive as he could be, there is a sizable contingent of Lakers fans that want him traded ASAP, as they feel his value will drop the longer the team holds onto him.

The big rumor around the NBA right now is that Kyrie Irving may want the Brooklyn Nets to trade him, and should he ask out, the Lakers will reportedly make a run at him.

But according to one report, the Nets will only send Irving to L.A. if they receive Davis in return.

In a recent episode of his podcast “The Lowe Post,” NBA reporter Zach Lowe says there is no way the Lakers will even consider trading the eight-time All-Star.

Via Hoops Hype:

“I’ve been told in no uncertain terms Anthony Davis is not getting traded,” said Lowe. “So let’s get that out of the way, let alone [traded] for Kyrie Irving.”

Despite the complaints from some Lakers fans, Davis (when healthy) is an extremely integral part of the team and its hopes of being competitive, let alone a championship contender.

He played very well early this season before he was hit by the injury bug, and if he simply stays healthy next season (of course, that’s a big if), he could be poised for a big season.

New head coach Darvin Ham has put the onus on Davis, and perhaps the struggles he has had the last two years will result in him being hungrier than he has in a while.
