Zach LaVine has a decision to make this summer on whether to remain a Chicago Bull or sport a new uniform going into next season.
The two-time All-Star is an unrestricted free this offseason and helping lead the Bulls to their first playoff appearance since 2016-17, LaVine is looking to cash out.
And barring any wrenches thrown in the plan, expect that cash out to come from Chicago.
“I understand the relationship I’ve had with AK and the last five years here, I hope the city understands how much I care about the Bulls. I’m going into everything open-minded but knowing how much I’ve enjoyed my time here.”

Chicago has spent the last year and a half attempting to better their team and postseason hopes, which they’ve been successful at. The Bulls acquired Nikola Vucevic at the trade deadline during the 2020-21 season followed by hitting a home run in free agency, signing All-Star DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Alex Caruso, which ensured confidence in LaVine that the newly shaped front office of Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley was moving the organization in the right direction.
“It was huge, getting a guy like Vooch at the deadline…getting a guy like DeMar, Zo & AC, bringing those guys is huge,” LaVine said. “This year has been incredible…I thought it’d be a special year & it was a special group.”
The Bulls have built a solid foundation with All-Star veterans and young role players who know who they are and play on both ends of the floor. With resigning LaVine, Chicago has the chance to build on a successful 2021-22 season going forward.
In 67 games this season, LaVine averaged 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
