The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t end up getting defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi back this past offseason in free agency after his deal fell through with Chicago.
But they apparently tried before he went to the Steelers.
According to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, the team was 100 percent in contact with Ogunjobi and he told ESPN’s Ben Baby the following: “Trust me, we talked to Larry.”
This meshes with Bengals players going out of their way to keep Ogunjobi’s number available this past summer.
This is little more than a funny note at this point for Steelers week. Whatever popped a red flag on Ogunjobi’s big-money deal with the Bears hasn’t stopped him from having a solid season with the Steelers.
Meanwhile, the Bengals paid B.J. Hill big and he’s played as expected, with depth names like Jay Tufele and Zach Carter flashing on the interior, too.
