Zac Taylor keeps Joe Burrow’s injury return timetable vague

The Cincinnati Bengals elaborated on the upcoming return timetable for Joe Burrow on Friday.

After practice, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Burrow will miss several weeks, which is about as specific as the team will get with the injury.

So much so, when asked for something further, Taylor merely classified it as “several weeks is several weeks,” per NFL.com.

While it’s vague, the Bengals have roughly six weeks until the opener of the regular season, so it doesn’t necessarily sound like that is in jeopardy. But given the fickle nature of strains, this will very much be a week-to-week thing, depending on how it heals.

Taylor also noted that the Bengals will add a quarterback to the roster in the interim so that Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning have some relief in a three-passer rotation, as intended.

And while the absence for Burrow is unfortunate, it’s not out of the ordinary given how every summer of his career thus far has unfolded. From the sounds of it, the Bengals got off lucky here, as a non-contact injury that isn’t merely a cramp can sometimes jeopardize entire seasons.
