Zac Efron looks unrecognisable with pudding bowl haircut and bulging biceps

Zac Efron looked unrecognisable to fans as he showed off his new look - complete with bulging biceps and a pudding bowl haircut.

The Hollywood star is busy filming his latest project alongside British actress Lily James and appears to have bulked up considerably for the role.

Zac, 35, showed off his hench new look dressed in a knitted grey tank top and skin-tight denim cut-off shorts to reveal his super-tanned, toned legs as he strolled around on the set of The Iron Claw in Louisiana.

The Greatest Showman star was also sporting a very square-looking pudding bowl-style haircut in the images, leaving him looking a far cry from the clean-cut image fans are more used to.

The Iron Claw focuses on the Von Erich family who were wrestling icons in their 1960s heyday - but went on to be tormented by tragedy after tragedy.

Zac plays Kevin Von Erich - who regularly appeared at his father Fritz's World Class Championship Wrestling promotion.

The sportsman is now 65 years old and was a one-time world champion, having won the WCWA World Heavyweight Championship.

He previously gave his seal of approval for Zac being cast to tell his story despite having never met or spoken to the actor.

He told TMZ: "He's got some tough work ahead of him, but I saw a picture of the guy, he looked great. I never looked that good. I think he's gonna do great. My daughters showed me his photo and he looked great. He really must be working out hard.

"My daughters love him and they think he's the right guy. I'm excited to watch it."

Kevin's father Fritz Von Erich - real name Jack Adkisson - started out his career in the 50s and 60s playing a Nazi on the wrestling scene.

He then went on to be a promoter for World Class Championship Wrestling with the movie named after his finishing hold that won him notoriety in the ring.

Despite his career success, Fritz's life was marred with tragedy with five of his six sons dying young.

By the time he died in 1997 at the age of 68, only Kevin had outlived him.

His first son, Jack Barton Adkisson Jr died in 1959 at the age of six when he was accidentally electrocuted by an exposed wire and drowned in a puddle.

His third son, David, was 25n when he died of a suspected painkiller overdose while on tour with All Japan Pro Wrestling on February 10, 1984.

The family later claimed ruptured intestines from acute enteritis were his actual cause of death.

Kerry, his fourth son, then took his own life aged 33 in 1993 - seven years after he had his foot amputated following a motorcycle accident.

Fritz's Fifth and sixth sons Mike and Chris both also took their own lives aged 23 in 1987 and 21 in 1991.
