TIRUPATI: Telugu Desam party (TDP) national general secretary Nara Lokesh on Thursday promised to establish a processing unit and cold storage facilities for the tomato farmers after the TDP comes to power in Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP leader completed 500 kms of his padayatra in Chinnathippa Samudram village under Madanapalle constituency in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district.
The former minister — who launched his much-hyped Yuvagalam padayatra from Kuppam in Chittoor district on January 27 — completed march in Chittoor and Tirupati districts and is currently touring the Annamayya district.
Lokesh unveiled a plaque on reaching the 500-km mark milestone in his 4,000-km-long padayatra near Madanapalle and thanked the people of the state and the TDP cadres for marching along with him during the last 39 odd days.
Nara Lokesh held brief interactive sessions with representatives from the Valmiki Boya and the Brahmin communities, weavers groups, Muslim communities during his ongoing padayatra in Madanapalle assembly constituency.
During his interaction with the farmers from Chinnathippa Samudram and Kothavaripalli villages, Lokesh promised that the TDP would complete all pending projects in the Rayalaseema region after it came back to power.
Lokesh also assured the farmers that the Chinnathippa Samudram pond would be linked to the Handri Niva Sujala Sravanthi project project to provide assured irrigation water to nearly 1,000 acres of land.
