Yukon launches new site for COVID-19 case counts, vaccinations, other key data

WHITEHORSE — The Yukon government has started a new COVID-19 dashboard aimed at keeping residents up to date about important pandemic-related information.

A statement from the government says the user-friendly dashboard replaces the COVID-19 case count page on the Yukon.ca website.

In addition to case counts, vaccination rates, testing and hospitalizations, the statement says the new site also offers interactive graphs, maps and detailed summaries of data.

Health Minister Tracy-Anne McPhee says the dashboard is "another tool Yukoners can use to assess the risks in their community" and take steps to keep them and their families safe during the pandemic.

The dashboard shows Yukon currently has 61 active cases of COVID-19, with 12 new confirmed cases for a total of 3,361 cases and 20 deaths since the pandemic began.

Premier Sandy Silver announced this week that, starting Friday, some COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and others are being eased as the Omicron variant peaks in the territory.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Feb. 18, 2022.
