Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that the YSR Congress Party-led (YSRCP) government is making the lives of people of Andhra Pradesh ‘increasingly miserable’ by increasing taxes and prices of essential commodities.
In several tweets on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu accused Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of imposing new taxes only to ‘squeeze the pockets of people’.
“Now, the State is hurtling towards an irrevocable socio-economic crisis. The Chief Minister is busy increasing his personal wealth by squeezing the hard-earned income of the poor and middle class. All sections of the society are reeling under the burden of arbitrary taxes, increased power charges and prices of essentials,” said Mr. Naidu.
The TDP chief further alleged that 10% of the total funds were being spent on welfare programmes, while the rest was being diverted into the pockets if YSRCP leaders. “Sand and liquor have become the sources for illegal money,” said the TDP president.
Mr. Naidu gave a call for a fight against ‘the ulterior plans’ of the YSRCP government.
“It is time for one and all joined the TDP’s protest against the anti people’s policies of the YSRCPCP government,” he added.
